TAROT CARDS

The Fool

The Fool – Forever young

The Fool is the first card in the tarot pack and is a member of the major arcana section. When we see the major cards appearing in our reading we can rest assured that “big noise” is happening or is about to happen in our lives.

The major cards are the ones that are trying to get us to notice them as they are trying to highlight more important events or events that will have a greater impact on our future.

The message given from The Fool has no exception to this, but in general it is usually a pleasant card with a pleasant meaning. There is however some exceptions to this that I will go more into detail with later in the text.

GENERAL MESSAGE GIVEN FROM THE FOOL CARD

What one must think when this card shows up is that there is some kind of new situation started or about to start and there is very much a feel-good factor about it.

Imagine that the long winter is finally drawing to a close. All the fun of the winter has long gone. We have had all the jolly activities such as bonfire night and Halloween. The festivities and good times we had at Christmas now seems like a distant memory. We had the optimism of our New Year resolutions and the positive thinking of the fresh beginnings that we would make, the diet we would start and perhaps the money we would save in the brand new year looming ahead. Then everything soon settled back to normal and everybody appeared to fall back into their routines once again.

After the Christmas holidays, we get the period where we are trying to pick ourselves up after overspending. January often seems to be a planning month to get our finances back in order and straighten our financial commitments out after we allowed our cash to run amok over the holiday. We return to work in the cold weather and it’s turning dark again before we arrive back home.

By February, many people are feeling tired of the rain and the cold and also the dark nights and by then we are looking forward to the return of the spring and more pleasant weather.

As soon as we see the crocus start to shoot in February, we begin to feel a bit more hopeful and by March we are feeling better still. By the end of March we are starting to get a spring in our step and looking forward to doing activities outside in the brighter weather.

This is the feeling of The Fool card. It brings fresh hope and optimism into our lives and is a really good omen. It gives us a sign that whatever the situation is that this card is touching on, it will go really well for us in the future.

It gives us a new interest in life and gives us something positive to get up for and get motivated about. We are starting to feel young and lighthearted once again.

WARNING CONNECTED WITH THE FOOL

Even though I have highlighted all the positives about The Fool card, there is also another hidden agenda.

Even the actual title of the card suggests this – The Fool.

The Fool is feeling in high spirits and in a great mood and loving life, but can also represent that a person is literally acting like a fool. It is the first card in tarot as I mentioned earlier so the fool has yet to meet the situations described in the rest of the major arcana section of the tarot pack. The Fool has not yet dealt with these other life experiences that the other major arcana cards numbered higher and further in the pack will bring.

Therefore there is a warning brought to the inquirer with this card and the hidden message is to highlight to the inquirer that there could be new people or new situations that they will meet or will enter their life that they need to be slightly careful about.

The main message of this when we get The Fool out in this way is one of naivety. When we embark on a new adventure, how will we know what the pitfalls are? Much of this actually comes with experience and The Fool tells us that this is something that we do not have when it relates to the new circumstances that are arising.

This naivety can put the inquirer in a tight spot that they could regret later on. They could literally be taken for a ride by somebody, ripped off or be taken advantage of. So there is also a message here to go into things with wide open eyes and try and assess the situation from all angles. Don’t allow anybody to hoodwink you or mess around with your life in a way that can cause you problems and something that you wish that you had never gotten involved with.

Now obviously, the surrounding cards will start to give more information here as to whether a good or negative outcome is expected for the person. If the neighboring cards fall in the inquirers favor, then this really is a special experience that will have long lasting effects.

THE FOOL IN A ROMANTIC SCENARIO

This is a great card to see appear at the beginning of a new relationship or even when somebody is catching our interest. It gives us a happy and cheerful sensation and does indicate the beginning of something new and fresh with the promise that something exciting is about to begin.

One could be getting those nervous butterflies in their stomach, talking a lot about the new focus of their attention and generally sailing on cloud nine.

Other surrounding cards will give more idea on what to expect here as this state of affairs develops further and starts to reveal itself. Many romantic cards from the suit of Cups would start to give the impression that that this will lead to something more permanent and will establish itself in due course.

Without a presence of the suit of Cups cards, it would look as though this will not actual lead to anything solid. Either it just doesn’t get off the ground or the inquirer will lose interest later down the line.

As I mentioned earlier, there is a warning with this card. Do go into things with wide open eyes. Heed the caution because there is a saying “act in haste and regret at leisure”.

Does this person have a partner already?

Could they have lots of debt, baggage or emotional setbacks?

Do take things slowly because there could be a big price to pay if the big picture is ignored or overlooked.

If the inquirer is in a relationship already then this card could have a lighter meaning.

Perhaps you and your partner are planning something new. Are you saving for a holiday perhaps, planning to start a family even or maybe a change of home?

Overall enjoy the influence of The Fool but do heed the red flags that are connected with it.

A new home will be costly – think your finances through.

A foreign holiday or any holiday in fact, is great – make sure you book the right accommodation in the right location for you both.

Whatever the scenario is, you do need to weigh up all the pros and cons.

THE FOOL CARD IN OTHER SITUATIONS

The general meaning of The Fool card can be applied throughout a person’s life with the same warning message hidden blow the surface.

If it be a new job or starting a business then it is time to be very wary. The last thing that you want to do is get out of the frying pan and jump straight into a fire.

But the surrounding cards will vouch for this and tell us whether we can sit back and enjoy the buzz or whether to literally be on our guard.

Overall though, even though I have tried to elaborate that there is a danger signal connected with The Fool in tarot readings it is overall a pleasant card and gives promise and hope that there are good times ahead to be enjoyed and look forward to.

I don’t want to completely take the fun out of this card by elaborating on the threat aspect of it because when this card appears in your reading it does give off a positive feel good vibe with nice times ahead. Relish the good times while they last.
